Pay $20-$25/hr based on experience

A RCSTC lifeguard monitors pool activities and ensures member safety. Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures, including American Red Cross lifeguard certification and CPR/ AED/ First Aid credentials.

To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by RCSTC. To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift.

 Assistant Pool Manager – Orinda Park Pool 

Orinda Park Pool in Orinda, CA

Position Overview: The  Lifeguard Manager is responsible for supervising, planning,  coordinating, and evaluating the daily operations of the Orinda Park  Pool aquatic facility. This position oversees lifeguard staff, ensures  safety and compliance with pool policies, manages schedules and  equipment, and provides excellent customer service to patrons. The  Lifeguard Manager plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and  well-organized aquatic environment. This position is ideal for an  experienced lifeguard looking to step into a leadership role in aquatics  management. 

Minimum Qualifications 

· Current  American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for the Professional  Rescuer certification required prior to beginning work. 

· Minimum of three years of lifeguard experience required. 

· Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred, not required. 

Hours & Pay

 Typical hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with  additional weekend, holiday, and event coverage required during high-use  days, club events, swim meets, and holidays such as Memorial Day, July  4th, and Labor Day. 

Season Late May through early September, with exact start and end dates determined by Orinda Park Pool operations. 

Pay Rate $35 per hour (competitive leadership pay for experienced lifeguards and aquatics supervisors)

Lifeguard-Green Valley Pool

Green Vally Pool in Danville, CA 

 GVP is hiring lifeguards for the summer season. We are open May-September. 

Flexible hours, $18 hour 

  Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must be at least 15  years of age. Must have current Lifeguarding/First Aid and CPR/AED for  the Professional Rescuer certifications. Must also pass Green Valley  Pool's CPR and in-water testing. Certification courses are available  through the American Red Cross and the Town of Danville. 

In addition to performing lifeguard duties during normal pool hours, lifeguards will maintain pool chemistry (and documentation), assist with daily clean up and participate in ongoing training. 

The pool is open for recreational swimming weekends only when the local public schools are in session and everyday during Summer. The schedule is 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm daily. Occasionally hours are extended for special events.

Those hired can expect to work approximately 12-16  hours per week as a lifeguard. Lifeguards work, on average, 3 – 4 days per week, 4 hrs per shift.

In  addition to maintaining safety standards, lifeguards act as role models  to the children, helpfully address the needs of club members and  maintain a clean and organized facility. 

Duties Include: 

·       Ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons 

·       Recognizing and responding appropriately to emergencies, illnesses, accidents and injuries 

·       Maintaining a clean and organized facility 

·       Answering questions, providing basic information about pool programs, hours and rules 

·       Preparing for opening during morning shifts and closing for the evening shifts 

Requirements: 

·       Must be at least 15 years of age 

·        Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding with First Aid/ CPR/ AED  for the Professional Rescuer Certification (please ask for upcoming  classes, if needed) 

·       Must work well with children 

Hours and Pay: 

The  pool will be open from April through October. The hours of operation  and staffing needs will change seasonally. Being available for the full  2026 pool season is not a requirement, however, we are hiring now and  certification will be available throughout the spring for those who are  not yet certified. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Supervise the activities of swimmers by consistently enforcing rules and regulations
  • Notify swimmers of improper activities or hazards
  • Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid
  • Notify Aquatics Director of any accidents, rescues, or problems
  • Report to the Aquatic Director any equipment that is in need of repair
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the pool and Aquatics services offered
  • Direct all helpful suggestions from participants and others to Aquatic Director or Club Management
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings.
  • Available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed as hours are not guaranteed and can change at any time
  • Be on time for your shift and for rotations throughout the  day. Be ready to work which includes being dressed in uniform (sunscreen  applied) and wearing your Rescue Tubes and First Aid pack each day  (return to the Lifeguard office at the end of the day). Check your pack  for its proper contents daily at the start of the shift
  • Help keep pool deck clean, safe and organized
  • Attend all staff meetings and trainings
  • Follow all safety procedures and precautions
  • Give high quality of Customer Service 
    • This includes giving full attention to the pool/swimmers while  in the guard chair. Do not have a conversation, if a member needs  assistance, please refer him/her to the Head Lifeguard or to the Service  Desk.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first  aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective courses of  action. 
  • Effective communication skills and engage positively with membership.
